Patty Carpenter Poynter, 88, of Maysville, Kentucky died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. Mrs. Poynter was the widow of James Taylor Poynter, Jr. who died September 28, 2013. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a fifty year plus member of the Maysville Country Club where she enjoyed participating in various golf events and scrambles. Mrs. Poynter was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross, a former member of the Washington PTA, an avid Bridge player and she loved to open her home for family...

Patty Carpenter Poynter, 88, of Maysville, Kentucky died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. Mrs. Poynter was the widow of James Taylor Poynter, Jr. who died September 28, 2013. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a fifty year plus member of the Maysville Country Club where she enjoyed participating in various golf events and scrambles. Mrs. Poynter was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross, a former member of the Washington PTA, an avid Bridge player and she loved to open her home for family and guest entertainment. She was born in Maysville, Kentucky on September 16, 1928 the daughter of the late Irvin and Frances Huff Carpenter. She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Libby) Poynter of Murfreesboro, TN and Tim (Terry) Poynter of Ft. Collins, CO; four grandchildren, Heather (Wes) Dugan, Matthew Poynter, Courtney (Brad) Moline and Erin (Matthew) Harrison and seven great grandchildren, Brooke Dugan, Taylor Dugan, McKenzie Dugan, Parker Moline, Madelyn Moline, Oliver Harrison and Paige Harrison. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Irvin Douglas Carpenter. Memorial services for Patty Poynter will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 with Rev. James Rawlings officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and on Sunday one hour prior to the service. The interment will be held in private with her family.
